In July 2026, Vir recorded 929,222 overnight stays, confirming its status as one of the country's strongest tourist destinations. Slovenians have taken the lead as the most numerous foreign guests by overnight stays.
The island of Vir continues to post impressive tourism results. During July 2026, this Croatian island recorded 59,275 arrivals and 929,222 overnight stays by domestic and foreign guests. According to data from the Morski portal, this represents a growth of 4.18 percent in arrivals and 3.66 percent in overnight stays compared to the same month last year, when 56,897 arrivals and 896,388 overnight stays were recorded.
With this result, Vir has become the only tourist destination in Croatia, alongside the unrivaled Rovinj, to surpass the 900,000 overnight stay threshold in July. This marks the fifth July in the history of tracking tourist traffic on the island with over 900,000 overnight stays, following those in 2019, 2022, 2023, and 2024. This year's July is the third-best result ever, behind the record-breaking 2023 with 980,508 overnight stays and 2024 with 934,019 overnight stays.
Regarding the structure of foreign guests, Slovenians recorded the most overnight stays with 116,673, a significant increase of 6.64 percent compared to last year's figures. This allowed them to overtake Hungarians, who recorded 78,109 overnight stays, a decrease of 3.98 percent. They are followed by Germans with 69,020 overnight stays and a growth of 4.98 percent, Slovaks with 59,991 overnight stays and a decrease of 4.35 percent, and Czechs with 55,459 overnight stays and a growth of 11.72 percent.
Interestingly, despite the drop in numbers, Hungarians still hold the top position in terms of arrivals with 10,417 guests. Behind them are Slovenians (6,869), Slovaks (6,782), Czechs (5,838), and Germans (4,728). In total, foreign guests accounted for 44,582 arrivals in July, making up 75.2 percent of all arrivals, and 479,705 overnight stays, or 51.6 percent of total overnight stays.
Good news also comes from the commercial segment of tourist traffic tracking. In July, Vir recorded 40,460 arrivals, an increase of 1.87 percent, and 309,572 overnight stays, with a growth of 1.54 percent compared to last July. The largest increase in commercial overnight stays was achieved by Czech guests with 12.3 percent, followed by domestic guests with a growth of 11.6 percent. Foreign guests hold a dominant share of commercial overnight stays at 83.7 percent and 84.3 percent in arrivals.
From the beginning of 2026 to the end of July, the island of Vir has recorded a total of 1,404,680 overnight stays, a growth of 3.71 percent, and 95,534 arrivals of foreign and domestic guests, with a growth of 2.37 percent. These figures confirm a continuous positive trend and solidify Vir's position as one of the most visited island destinations on the Adriatic.
