Zagreb's Magnum Supra to Build Immunology Institute Administration Building for €3.19 Million

The project to build the new complex of the Immunology Institute in the Rugvica North industrial zone will not stall at the second step. At a session held on August 5, 2026, the Government gave the Immunology Institute the green light to assume financial obligations against the state budget, thereby enabling the signing of a contract for the construction of the administration building with the most favorable bidder.
The contract has been awarded to Zagreb-based construction company Magnum Supra, which will build the facility for €3.19 million excluding VAT, or a total of €3.98 million including tax. The deadline for completion is 12 months.
In the tender conducted at the end of last year, in October 2025, three valid bids were received. In addition to Magnum Supra from Zagreb, Međimurje graditeljstvo from Čakovec and P.P., Invest from Donji Stupnik also submitted their prices. However, all three bids significantly exceeded the estimated value of the works, which the Immunology Institute had initially set at €2 million excluding VAT.
Using the legal option to assume obligations under contracts that fall due in the coming years, provided they do not exceed €1.5 million, it was decided not to repeat the tender. The most favorable bid from Magnum Supra was accepted, and the other companies did not appeal the decision.
Magnum Supra is a mid-sized construction company that has been operating for six years and specializes in public buildings, including kindergartens. Among its references, it also highlights the reconstruction of the historic Gruž market in Dubrovnik. The company is owned by Tomislav Bolotin and employs more than 70 workers. They had a record business year in 2024 with revenues exceeding €16 million, while last year, in 2025, revenues fell to below €8 million.
The administration building is an important organizational link in the revitalization of the Immunology Institute, a project that has been in preparation for more than five years. At the same time, work is intensively underway on the first facility at the same location, a plant for the production of snake antivenom. The external structure of this plant has been completed, and the next steps include the construction of clean rooms and the installation of specialized equipment. Completion and obtaining permits are expected by the end of the year.
The project has also received additional momentum from the Municipality of Rugvica, which recently donated an additional plot of nearly 15,000 square meters to the Institute. It is intended for the biological segment of the institute, i.e., housing animals crucial for the production and testing of antivenom. This brings the total complex area to 55,000 square meters.
The biggest challenge still lies ahead, the construction of a plant for the production of plasma-derived medicines, with an estimated value of €40.8 million plus VAT. The tender for this job was canceled in early 2026 because the only bid received was invalid.
