Summary
  • Since August 3, 2026, Palmotićeva Street at the intersection with Knez Branimir Street has been closed due to tram track works.
  • Road repair works on Velimira Škorpika Street continue, with the street closed until August 17, 2026.
  • ZET bus lines 116 and 120 are operating on altered routes, and several stops are temporarily out of service.
  • The City asks for patience and urges drivers to use detour routes and follow temporary signage.

Residents and everyone traveling through the western part of Zagreb can expect serious traffic challenges starting today. In addition to the ongoing road repair works on Velimira Škorpika Street, which began last Friday, Palmotićeva Street at its intersection with Knez Branimir Street has been closed to traffic since Monday, August 3, 2026, at noon.

Two Weeks of Detours and Patience

The tram track works on Palmotićeva Street will last until Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 4 a.m. During this time, exiting from Palmotićeva onto Knez Branimir Street will be completely impossible. As an alternative, the City of Zagreb suggests a detour via Šenoina Street to King Tomislav Square.

Meanwhile, the road repair works on Velimira Škorpika Street, from Ljubljanska Avenue to the roundabout near the King Cross shopping center, will continue until Monday, August 17, 2026, at 4 a.m. This section is completely closed to all traffic. The city has published detailed detour routes, including Samoborska Road, Antuna Šoljana Street, Marije Radić Street, Savska opatovina Street, and Zagreb and Ljubljana Avenues. Alternative routes also include directions via Priobalna, Susedsko polje, and Kovinska.

ZET Reroutes Bus Lines 116 and 120

The works have also directly impacted public transport. Bus lines 116 (Ljubljanica - Podsused most) and 120 (Prečko - Črnomerec) are operating on altered routes. Vehicles will depart from their starting points along Zagreb Avenue, then turn right onto the access road towards Jankomir Street, continue along Jankomir Street, and turn left onto Samoborska Road towards their destinations. On the return, they will use the route via Samoborska Road, Jankomir Street, the Jankomir overpass, and Ljubljanska Avenue.

Due to these changes, the following bus stops are out of service in both directions: Robni terminali Jankomir on Ljubljanska Avenue, King Cross, Oktavijana Miletića, Kovinska, and the Samoborska stop on Velimira Škorpika Street towards Ljubljanica and Prečko. As replacements, lines 116 and 120 will use only the Samoborska stop on Samoborska Road, the starting and ending stop of line 107 at Robni terminali Jankomir towards Ljubljanica and Prečko, and a temporary stop on the access road towards Jankomir Street, known as Grand auto, towards Podsused most and Črnomerec.

"We ask all road users to pay attention to the temporary signage and to be patient and understanding of possible difficulties, and we especially ask pedestrians to be careful, given the presence of construction machinery and equipment in the work zone," the City of Zagreb said.

Recommendations for Drivers

The City urges drivers to check road conditions before setting off, use detour routes, and expect delays, especially during morning and afternoon rush hours. Works at both locations are expected to be completed by August 17, 2026, in the early morning hours, which should bring traffic in the western part of the city back to normal.
