Residents of Dubrovnik and its surroundings were disturbed by ground tremors on the morning of Friday, August 7, 2026. According to initial reports, the earthquake was felt at 8:46 AM, although some sources, such as Slobodna Dalmacija and the Dulist portal, report the time as 8:47 AM.
There is currently no official data on the magnitude, depth, or exact location of the earthquake's epicenter. The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) has not yet released precise parameters.
Although official figures are lacking, residents' reactions on the EMSC website were quick to follow. Within a short period, more than 50 reports were recorded from the wider Dubrovnik area, confirming that the tremor was noticeable across a broad region.
"It was short but strong," commented one EMSC user. Another added: "It lasted a few seconds, but it was powerful." Some witnesses noted that the shaking was also felt at Dubrovnik Hospital, describing it as quite intense.
So far, there is no information about possible material damage or injuries. Official reports are still being compiled and are expected in the coming hours.
