While cleaning a family house in Grubišno Polje, a citizen came across an unpleasant surprise on Monday, August 3, 2026. In the garage and attic spaces, she found a larger quantity of ammunition that the household members were unaware was there.
Immediately Called the Police
The citizen acted responsibly and immediately informed the Grubišno Polje Police Station about the discovery. Police officers arrived at the scene and safely took possession of approximately 680 rounds of ammunition, confirmed the Bjelovar-Bilogora Police Administration.
Reminder of the 'Less Weapons, Less Tragedies' Campaign
The police thanked the citizen for her responsible behavior and took the opportunity to remind all citizens of the national preventive campaign "Less Weapons, Less Tragedies." This measure allows for the voluntary surrender of weapons, ammunition, and explosives, with no penalties of a misdemeanor or criminal nature being imposed.
Individuals who find or possess weapons and ammunition do not need to personally bring them to police stations or handle them. A simple call to the police at 192 is sufficient, after which plainclothes officers will come to an agreed location and safely take possession of the found items, as stated by the police.
In this way, as they emphasize, the safety of all citizens is directly increased, and the risk of unwanted incidents is reduced.
