These days, Sinj is buzzing with preparations for the 311th Sinjska Alka, Croatia's premier knightly tournament. The alkari are diligently honing their skills, but today's training session at the Sinj racetrack carried an added, ceremonial dimension. All of them wore identical jerseys with the word "Storm," paying homage to the military-police operation whose anniversary is celebrated on August 5, 2026, on Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day and the Day of Croatian Defenders.
Precision and Patriotic Atmosphere
The training was marked by precision, focus, and the seamless coordination of the alkari and their horses. A photo gallery from the racetrack bears witness to an atmosphere that was both workmanlike and patriotic. The final checks ahead of the Alka weekend thus received a special seal, linking knightly tradition with one of the most important dates in modern Croatian history.
Sinj Once Again the Heart of Tradition
Over the coming days, Sinj will once again become the gathering point for numerous visitors who will follow the Alka festivities and the competition for the victor of the 311th Alka. This training session clearly demonstrated that the alkari, while nurturing centuries-old knightly heritage, also deeply respect the recent history of their homeland.
