Adriatic Apartment for 35 Euros, Lunch from Just 5

For many families, a summer holiday on the Adriatic is increasingly becoming a significant financial burden. Yet, on the Montenegrin coast, there is still a place where you can enjoy a pleasant vacation without straining your household budget. As reported by portals Metropolitan and Poslovni dnevnik, this is Čanj, a small coastal town situated between Sutomore and Petrovac, which has long been known as one of the most affordable holiday spots on the Adriatic.

Accommodation at Prices Hard to Find Elsewhere

Čanj's biggest advantage is its affordable accommodation prices. Even during the busiest part of summer, you can find a studio or room for around 10 to 25 euros per person. Family apartments typically range from 35 to 50 euros per night. This is significantly cheaper compared to more famous Montenegrin tourist destinations like Budva, Kotor, or Tivat, where prices are often double. In addition to private apartments, there are also guesthouses and smaller hotels offering half-board, which further reduces costs.

Affordable Dining and Hidden Beaches

It's not just accommodation that's affordable. At local restaurants and fast-food spots, a daily lunch or a cooked meal can be had for as little as 5 to 8 euros, which is a real rarity during the tourist season on the Adriatic. Prices for coffee, ice cream, and basic groceries in shops are also considerably more moderate than in the most visited coastal centers.

Čanj is nestled in a sheltered bay, away from the main road, making it one of the quieter holiday spots. Its main attraction is Biserna obala (Pearl Coast), a beach over a kilometer long that is a mix of sand and pebbles. Renting two sunbeds and an umbrella typically costs between 8 and 15 euros, and there are also free sections of the beach. A special highlight is Kraljičina plaža (Queen's Beach), hidden among high cliffs, accessible by a small boat for just a few euros.
