At the fuel dispensing area, a man threw a cigarette butt into a paper container, causing a fire inside the container. The suspect then left the scene on a motorcycle without attempting to extinguish the fire.
Thanks to the quick and calm action of the gas station employees, more serious damage was avoided. They immediately used a fire extinguisher and put out the fire before it could spread to the surrounding area and potentially threaten the entire station.
The Šibenik police have completed a criminal investigation into the 43-year-old, who is suspected of the criminal offense of "Endangering Life and Property by a Generally Dangerous Act or Means." Upon completion of the investigation, the suspect was handed over to the custody officer of the Šibenik-Knin Police Department.
A criminal report has been filed against him with the competent State Attorney's Office in Šibenik, which will decide on further proceedings in this case.
