Central commemoration in Knin
Croatia today marks the 31st anniversary of the magnificent Military-Police Operation "Storm," Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day, and Croatian Veterans Day. The central state commemoration is being held in Knin, the symbol of Croatian victory.
The program began with a traditional morning wake-up call through the city streets at 6:30 AM. At 7:30 AM, a holy mass was celebrated at the Church of Our Lady of the Great Croatian Baptismal Vow, and at 9 AM, at the Croatian Victory Monument "Storm 95," tribute was paid to fallen, missing, and deceased Croatian veterans by laying wreaths and lighting candles.
245 cadets in memory of the fallen
The central ceremony began at 9:40 AM at the NK Dinara stadium, with a live broadcast from the Knin Fortress, where the Croatian flag was raised to the tune of the national anthem and a ceremonial salute.
A special moment of the ceremony was the appearance of 245 cadets of the Croatian Army and Police Academy trainees, in memory of the 245 fallen and missing Croatian veterans in the Military-Police Operation "Storm."
The program also includes a display of the capabilities of the Croatian Army and Police, an aerial program, welcoming of marathon runners, cyclists, and motorcyclists, a tactical-technical display of weapons and military equipment, and the distribution of traditional military bean stew. The day-long commemoration will conclude with an evening concert at Dr. Ante Starčević Square, organized by the City of Knin.
