Former U.S. Congresswoman and former Trump ally Marjorie Taylor Greene stated on Sunday, August 16, 2026, that the use of nuclear weapons against Iran is being considered in strategic discussions within the U.S. administration. "I'm not speculating. I know, the use of nuclear weapons is being considered," Greene wrote in her post, adding that it would be "pure evil."
Greene recalled the last use of nuclear weapons in history, which occurred on August 6 and 9, 1945, against two cities in Japan, Hiroshima and Nagasaki. "Humanity, because of so much suffering, made a promise: never again," the former congresswoman said.
A day later, on Monday, August 17, 2026, Greene posted another message directly criticizing U.S. President Donald Trump and his administration. "Iran cannot have nuclear weapons. Fine. No debate. But I demand that America not use nuclear weapons," she wrote.
"The President and his 'war' secretary must address this issue and promise the American people that they will not do it. Never again. Remember?" Greene added, alluding to humanity's promise after the tragedies of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
According to B92, Greene particularly criticized Washington's decision to intervene in the conflict with Iran, claiming that U.S. intelligence agencies told the Trump administration that Iran is not close to developing nuclear weapons.
