At the European Championships in Varese, Croatian rowers Martin and Valent Sinković, both Olympians, won bronze in the double sculls. According to Telegram's report, the brothers managed to overtake the Romanian crew in a dramatic finish to the final race, securing their place on the podium.
As Telegram reports, the Sinković brothers didn't have the best start, but as the race progressed, they increasingly pressured the leaders. Their key move came in the final meters, overtaking the Romanians. They finished 3.90 seconds behind the winners, according to HRT.
Gold went to Serbian representatives Martin Mačković and Nikolaj Pimenov, while the silver medal was claimed by the Spanish duo of Caetano Xose Hortas Pombo and Rodrigo Conde Romero.
With the bronze in Varese, the Sinković brothers have reached their 24th medal in their rowing careers. This medal is yet another in a series of major successes for Croatia's most decorated rowing duo, who also finished third in the semifinal before showcasing their trademark strength in the final.
Croatian rowing still has a chance for another medal in Varese. According to information from Telegram, the Croatian four-oar crew, consisting of Goran Mahmutović, Roko Bošković, Damir Martin, and Ivan Talaja, will also compete in Saturday's final. Their medal race begins at 12:47 PM.
