Drivers heading along the expressway through Kaštela on Monday, August 3, 2026, were met with an unpleasant surprise. On the stretch toward Kaštel Štafilić and in the direction of Trogir, the roadway is covered with a large amount of water that is overflowing and flowing, creating potentially hazardous driving conditions.
As seen in a video submitted by a reader of Slobodna Dalmacija, water is cascading down the road. The municipal utility company "Vodovod i kanalizacija" from Split has confirmed that repair work is underway and that the fault has been isolated.
Despite the flooded road, there is good news for consumers. The water supply in the wider area is not currently at risk. However, the utility company notes that the filling of the reservoir toward Trogir has been reduced.
Vodovod i kanalizacija Split expects the repair work to be completed by the end of the day. Until then, drivers are advised to exercise extra caution on this stretch due to the wet and slippery road surface.
