The town of Crikvenica is gearing up for a grand celebration of its City Day and the Feast of the Assumption, its patron saint. The two-day program, set for August 14 and 15, 2026, will feature top-tier music, traditional customs, and sporting events, culminating in performances by some of the biggest names in the regional music scene.
Day One: Procession, Concerts, and Midnight Fireworks
The festivities kick off on Friday, August 14, with a concelebrated Mass at the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Following the Mass, the traditional "1,000 Candles" procession will be held in honor of the Assumption. The main evening event moves to Stjepan Radić Square, where the crowd will first be entertained by Funky Town & Ivana Kindl, followed by one of the region's biggest music stars, Tony Cetinski. The first day of the celebration will culminate in a spectacular midnight fireworks display.
Day Two: Sports, Damir Kedžo, and a Musical Intermezzo
On the Feast of the Assumption itself, Saturday, August 15, the program begins with a solemn Mass. Sports enthusiasts can follow the 116th Swimming Marathon on the Šilo-Crikvenica route, one of the longest-running sporting events in this part of Croatia. The evening music program returns to Stjepan Radić Square, where the popular Damir Kedžo will perform. Meanwhile, in Jadranovo, in front of the Church of St. James, the traditional "Summer Intermezzo" concert by musician Vitomir Ivanjek will take place.
Culture and Heritage for All
Throughout both days of the celebration, all visitors will have the opportunity to explore Crikvenica's rich cultural and historical heritage for free. Admission will be free to the Crikvenica Town Museum, the Crikvenica City Gallery, and the Fisherman's Cottage in Jadranovo, where current exhibitions await.
