French pianist David Fray will make his Croatian debut tonight, July 25, 2026, at 9:30 PM, on the prestigious stage of the 77th Dubrovnik Summer Festival. The recital takes place in the atrium of the Rector's Palace, one of the Adriatic's most iconic festival venues.
For the Dubrovnik audience, Fray has prepared a program that traverses several centuries of European musical tradition. The first half is dedicated to Baroque masters: Johann Sebastian Bach, Pancrace Royer, Domenico Scarlatti, François Couperin, and Jean-Philippe Rameau. Piano transcriptions of Bach's works hold a special place, as they are a hallmark of Fray's repertoire.
The second half of the concert offers a Romantic contrast with music by Richard Wagner, including piano transcriptions from the opera Tristan und Isolde. The blend of Baroque elegance and Romantic yearning makes this recital one of the most demanding and varied evenings of this year's festival.
David Fray regularly performs in the world's leading concert halls and at prestigious festivals. He has collaborated with prominent conductors such as Riccardo Muti, Semyon Bychkov, Paavo Järvi, and Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Among the orchestras he has performed with are the Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam, the New York Philharmonic, the London Philharmonic, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
In the 2024/2025 season, he has had a series of performances with European and American orchestras and has been touring as a recitalist across Europe and Asia.
