Stuttgart striker Ermedin Demirović put an end to all speculation about his departure at a press conference on August 4, 2026. Although he had been linked with Leeds, Fenerbahçe, and Juventus in recent weeks, the Bosnia and Herzegovina international made it clear that he is staying with the club as he prepares for the new Bundesliga season.
Demirović admitted he heard rumors of interest from other clubs while on holiday but stressed that leaving was never an option. "Leaving was never an option for me. I heard the rumors while I was on holiday, but I've always said I want to stay at Stuttgart. I get along great with the coach, and nothing has changed in my mind on that front," Demirović told BILD, as reported by Klix.ba.
These words refute the speculation that appeared in some media outlets, and German journalist Felix Arnold confirmed the news on Twitter with a clip of Demirović's statement.
In addition to settling his own future, Demirović also commented on a potential attacking reinforcement. Young Wolfsburg striker Dženan Pejčinović, also of Bosnian descent, has turned down a move to Porto and wants to join Stuttgart, with the deal expected to be completed soon.
"He's welcome. He's very welcome. He's a good player, we've seen that, of course. I follow the Bundesliga. We want to start the season strongly, so any good player who brings quality is important to us," Demirović said at the press conference, as reported by journalist Daniel Haug.
Demirović also touched on his Bosnia and Herzegovina teammate Edin Džeko, who will also be playing in the Bundesliga next season. "I've emphasized so many times what Džeko means to me, what Džeko means to us. It was special to play alongside him at the World Cup. Džeko has always managed to show that he's an exceptional player. And to be playing in the Bundesliga again at his age is incredible. That's why I'm simply thrilled," he said.
Stuttgart will open their new season on August 21, 2026, with an away match against Hansa Rostock in the DFB-Pokal, while a week later, on August 28, they begin their Bundesliga campaign away at Bayern.
