Two Actions, Two Faces of Drugs: Vinkovci and Bijelo Polje

Police departments in Croatia and Montenegro, within just a few days, conducted separate operations that resulted in the seizure of significant quantities of drugs and the filing of criminal charges. While in Vinkovci a 33-year-old man was arrested with over a kilogram of narcotics, in Bijelo Polje two men were suspected of enabling the use of narcotic drugs.
Police officers from the Vukovar-Srijem Police Department, on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, based on a court order, conducted a search of the home, other premises, and the motor vehicle used by a 33-year-old man in Vinkovci. The search led to the discovery and seizure of 369 grams of cocaine, 887 grams of cannabis, cash, and other items associated with the commission of criminal offenses.
A criminal investigation was conducted on the suspect, which established that the seized drugs were intended for further unauthorized sale. Due to suspicion of committing the criminal offense of "Unauthorized Production and Trafficking of Drugs," a criminal report was filed with the competent state attorney's office, and he was handed over to the detention supervisor.
On the same day, August 6, 2026, officers from the Bijelo Polje Security Department filed criminal charges against two persons of operational interest, N.J. (35) and R.F. (31), on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of enabling the use of narcotic drugs. The actions followed separate police checks.
N.J. was checked in the town of Ribarevine, where cocaine was found on him. Further police work led to the suspicion that he had enabled the use of that drug to S.V. (41), also from Bijelo Polje. Testing confirmed the presence of cocaine in S.V.'s system.
In a separate operation, R.F. (31) was checked, and a package of marijuana was found on him. Testing showed that R.F. tested positive for benzodiazepines, while G.N., who was with him, was found to have marijuana in his system.
After the criminal processing, upon the order of the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje, criminal charges were filed against N.J. and R.F.
These two separate operations, although geographically distant, highlight the ongoing efforts of police forces in the region against drug abuse and distribution. While Croatia focuses on seizing larger quantities intended for street sale, Montenegro also prosecutes the mere facilitation of consumption.
