Karlovac recorded two traffic accidents involving electric scooter riders in just two days. The first occurred on Monday, August 3, 2026, and the second on Tuesday, August 5, 2026, as confirmed by the police. While in the first case the car driver fled the scene, in the second a minor on a scooter hit a streetlight pole and sustained minor injuries.

Collision at Intersection and Hit-and-Run

The first accident happened at 12:10 PM at the intersection of Stjepan Radić Street and Ivan Banjavčić Street. A passenger car failed to yield the right of way to an electric scooter ridden by a 43-year-old man. The impact knocked the scooter rider and his vehicle to the pavement, but no one was injured in the crash.

The car driver did not stop to exchange information but instead left the scene. As a result, measures will be taken against him in accordance with the Road Traffic Safety Act. The police investigation also determined that the 43-year-old was traveling on a street where traffic is prohibited in both directions, with an additional sign allowing passage only for bicycles and vehicles with a permit. He was wearing a protective helmet during the ride.

Scooter with 6000 W Power Not a Personal Mobility Device

The electric scooter itself drew particular attention. It was found to have a seat, a motor with a power of 2x3000 W, and a maximum speed of 85 km/h. Due to these characteristics, it cannot be classified as a personal mobility device. The scooter was temporarily seized, and a mandatory misdemeanor charge will be filed against the 43-year-old driver.

Minor Without Helmet Hits Pole at Night

The second accident occurred on August 5 at around 10:25 PM on Ivan Meštrović Street. A minor was riding an electric scooter on a bike path but in the wrong direction. While crossing a bike crossing over the roadway and over a raised curb, he lost control of the handlebars. The scooter hit a metal streetlight pole, and the rider fell onto the asphalt.

The minor sustained minor injuries in the accident. The investigation revealed that at night he was not marked with a reflective vest or other reflective gear and was not wearing a protective helmet. Due to the traffic violations committed, a criminal complaint will be filed against him with the competent court.

Higher Parts of Draganić Without Water

On the same day the news about the traffic accidents was published, August 6, 2026, the higher parts of Draganić, the settlements of Budrovci, D. Vrh, and Mrzljaki, were left without water supply due to a breakdown in the water supply network. According to information sent by Ivana Češković, crews are on the ground working to locate and repair the fault.

To ensure residents have drinking water, a water tanker has been placed at Budrovci 110, near the playground. It is expected that the water supply will be interrupted until 7:00 PM, but there is a possibility of extended work. Users have also been warned of possible water turbidity after the system returns to normal.
