In the first accident on Krk, a 57-year-old Italian man collided with a motorcycle carrying two Austrian nationals, while near Čabar, a 56-year-old man crashed alone in a curve.
Two separate traffic accidents occurred yesterday, August 5, 2026, on the roads of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, resulting in serious injuries to a motorcycle passenger and a motorcyclist. Both cases required emergency transport to the Rijeka Clinical Hospital Center, and the police are continuing to investigate all circumstances.
The first accident was recorded at around 9:50 AM on state road DC-102 on the island of Krk. According to police information reported by Novi list, the collision occurred when a 57-year-old Italian national, driving a passenger car and entering the roundabout, failed to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead. His car struck a motorcycle ridden by a 61-year-old Austrian national.
Due to the force of the impact, the motorcycle rider and his 60-year-old passenger, also an Austrian national, fell onto the road. The motorcycle then, out of control, hit the rear of another car driven at that moment by a 40-year-old German national.
In this chain collision, the 60-year-old passenger sustained the most severe injuries. After receiving first aid at the scene, she was urgently transported to the Rijeka Clinical Hospital Center, where doctors confirmed serious physical injuries.
On the same day, around 3:00 PM, another serious accident occurred, this time on state road DC-3 in the Čabar area. A 56-year-old motorcyclist, riding in the direction of Delnice, failed to adjust his speed to the road conditions and state in a curve. As a result, he lost control of his motorcycle and fell onto the road.
In the fall, the rider sustained serious physical injuries and was also transported for further treatment to the Rijeka Clinical Hospital Center.
The Primorje-Gorski Kotar Police Department continues its criminal investigation to determine all circumstances of both accidents. On this occasion, the police have once again appealed to all drivers, especially motorcyclists, to exercise increased caution in traffic and to always adapt their speed to current road conditions.
