Ship Guests on Vis Clean Beach Instead of Swimming

While most tourists on an Adriatic cruise enjoy the sun and sea, the guests and crew of the M/S Navigator decided to spend their holiday differently. During a voyage through the Dalmatian islands, they came across the polluted Travna Cove on the island of Vis and spontaneously organized a cleanup action.

Instead of Swimming, They Took Garbage Bags

When they spotted waste scattered along the shore from the deck, they didn't look away. They removed plastic, glass, and various trash from the beach, which, as DalmacijaDanas reports, can take up to a hundred years to decompose in nature. The collected bags of waste were then transported by dinghy from the shore to the ship, ensuring that the trash did not remain in the cove.

"Environmental Activism Runs in My Blood"

Among the guests who took part in the cleanup was Tatjana Banić, who explained her motives.

"I never rest, not even on vacation. Environmental and humanitarian activism runs in my blood. I can't close my eyes and pretend not to see a threat, whether social or environmental,"

She emphasized that this cruise was not just about enjoyment, but also a story of responsibility toward the sea and the coast.

"For some individuals, nautical tourism is not just about lounging in the sun and swimming in the sea. The guests of Captain Srećko on this tour cleaned the cove of plastic, glass, and various waste,"

Action Led by Captain Vuković

The action was carried out during a tour of the central Dalmatian islands, with crew members led by Captain Srećko Vuković also participating in the cleanup. Their joint message was simple but powerful:

"There is only one Mother Earth. Let's protect her for ourselves and for the generations that come after us."

This small, spontaneous gesture showed that tourists and sailors can be active guardians of the places they visit, not just passing visitors.
