The last weekend of July brought increased traffic on Croatian roads, and the Croatian Automobile Club (HAK) reported heavy traffic on major routes towards the coast and inland, as well as on approaches to tourist destinations this morning. The situation is particularly noticeable on the A1 and A2 highways, while at sea, several catamaran lines have been suspended.
On the A2 Zagreb-Macelj highway, in front of the Trakošćan tollbooth in the direction of Zagreb, a queue about one kilometer long has formed. The portal Zagorje International, which monitors traffic in that area, states that the queue reaches up to the Slovenian border. On the A1 Zagreb-Ploče-Karamatići highway, traffic density is increased between Zagreb and Zadar towards the coast, but according to HAK data from the morning hours, at the Lučko and Demerje tollbooths, there are no long waits for now.
Drivers on the A1 highway should also expect slow driving due to a traffic accident that occurred between the Jastrebarsko and Karlovac junctions, near the Draganić rest area. According to Tportal information from 9 a.m., traffic on that section is moving in two lanes with a speed limit. HAK advises drivers to adjust their speed and driving style to road conditions and to maintain a sufficient safety distance between vehicles.

The reasons for the suspension of catamaran lines are not stated in the published announcements, but in summer months such disruptions are most often due to poor sea weather conditions.
HAK recommends that drivers check traffic conditions before departure because, as they state, further intensification of traffic towards tourist destinations is expected during the day. This weekend is the last in July, making it one of the busiest in the summer season, as some tourists change accommodation or return home, while others are just heading to the coast. Road conditions will be monitored and updated throughout the day via HAK's channels.
