The town of Slunj is once again marking the 31st anniversary of its liberation during the military-police operation "Storm," Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day, Croatian Veterans Day, and the Day of the Town of Slunj. According to the portal Karlovački, the march is organized by the Association of Croatian Veterans of the Homeland War of Slunj, Cetingrad, and Rakovica. Program in Slunj: From Mass to Concert

Following the march, the program continues with a Holy Mass at the Church of the Holy Trinity at 11 a.m. Then, at 12:15 p.m., a ceremonial session of the Slunj City Council will be held in the cinema hall of the Slunj Open University. At the session, lifetime achievement awards, public recognitions, and certificates of appreciation will be presented to deserving individuals, associations, and legal and physical entities. An exhibition of photographs from the Homeland War will also be on display alongside the session.

The central event of the commemoration will take place at 2 p.m. in the town park, where tribute will be paid at the memorial to fallen and missing Croatian veterans. In addition to family members, the tribute will be attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Croatian Veterans Tomo Medved, delegations from the Croatian Parliament and Karlovac County, representatives of the military, police, veterans' associations, and other guests, as reported by Karlovački. The evening concludes with a concert by the band Giuliano & Diktatori at Zrinski and Frankopan Square, along with performances by the tamburica ensemble "Krivi dur."

Commemoration in Komarevo

A day earlier, on August 5, 2026, Victory Day will also be observed in Komarevo. The program begins at 10 a.m. with the laying of wreaths and lighting of candles at the memorial to the 101st Brigade near the cemetery, followed at 10:30 a.m. by the same ceremony at the memorial near the Church of St. Catherine.

A prayer will then be offered for all fallen, deceased, and missing Croatian veterans at the Homeland Memorial. After the official part, participants will gather at 11 a.m. at the community center for a reception, and the gathering will continue at the Zibel bathing area, marking the 31st anniversary of Operation Storm.
