The purpose of the visit was to check the hospital's operations during the tourist season, a period when emergency services are under the greatest strain.

The Minister, along with hospital director Andrej Angelini and his deputy Daniela Fabris-Vitković, toured the Emergency Department (OHBP), the Department of Nuclear Medicine, and the hospital pharmacy. During the visit, the latest investments in equipment and work organization were presented.

More than 5,600 Interventions in Two Years

Minister Hrstić particularly highlighted the importance of helicopter and maritime emergency medical services. "Every year, the number of visits to emergency departments and tourist clinics grows. Helicopter and maritime emergency medical services have proven to be a significant added value," the Minister told 24sata.

She backed this up with concrete figures: "In the last two years, more than 5,600 interventions have been recorded, meaning that a helicopter or emergency medical boat is dispatched almost every three hours."

Plans for a Tourist Clinic and New Equipment

During the visit, the possible relocation of the tourist clinic to the immediate vicinity of the hospital was also discussed. This would reduce unnecessary patient transfers between different locations and further relieve emergency services.

The Minister also announced concrete investments in equipment. A new fume hood for preparing radiopharmaceuticals at the Department of Nuclear Medicine has already been secured with funds from the Ministry of Health. The replacement of the existing CT scanner and the procurement of a new MRI machine are expected soon, which will significantly enhance the diagnostic capabilities of Pula's hospital.
