For 38-year-old Croatian citizen Denis, who has been living and working in Ireland for several years, his family and friends have launched a fundraising campaign on the GoFundMe platform. Their goal is to raise funds for his continued treatment after he suffered a serious medical condition in early July.
Fighting for Life Since July 7
Denis has been in a coma at a hospital in Cork since July 7, 2026. On that day, he suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm, and his condition has not improved significantly since then. "Doctors have seen no improvement," the family said, adding that they have already discussed the possibility of withdrawing life support.
Despite the grim prognosis, the family points to signs that give them hope. They note that Denis keeps his eyes open, blinks, and reacts to familiar voices and sounds. "As a family, we are not ready to give up. We want to do everything in our power to give Denis every possible chance," family members said.
Plan to Return to Croatia
The family intends to use the raised funds for several key purposes. The priority is obtaining a second medical opinion, followed by arranging Denis's transport to Croatia for further treatment. The funds would also cover costs related to legal and administrative procedures, as well as travel and accommodation for immediate family members who are with him in Ireland.
In addition to financial support, the family is actively seeking a hospital in Croatia willing to take over Denis's care if an opportunity for his transfer from Ireland arises. They have called on anyone who has gone through a similar experience, as well as those who know doctors or healthcare facilities, to come forward and help.
"Every act of kindness means more to our family than words can express," said Denis's family members and friends.
