Croatian Premiere of 'Spider-Man: New Age' in ScreenX Gathers Numerous Guests

In the packed ScreenX hall of CineStar Branimir Mingle Mall last night, the Croatian premiere of the film "Spider-Man: New Age" was held, the first film in history shot specifically for that format, which expands the image onto the side walls of the hall creating a 270-degree panoramic view. The program was hosted by Daniel Bilić, and among the many guests from public and social life were Marko Vuletić and his partner Bogoljub Veličković, Grigor Baždar, Ivan Šarić and Anthony Joseph Vilanca, Večernji list reports.

The film, distributed by the company Jučer, will start regular screenings from Thursday, July 30, 2026, in cinemas across Croatia. The first viewers have already confirmed that it is a true cinematic spectacle that raises the bar of the superhero genre.

History of Cinema in Zagreb: From the Lumière Brothers to IMAX

Zagreb's love for film has lasted for over 120 years. The first film screening in the city was held on October 8, 1896, less than a year after the Paris screenings of the Lumière brothers, and it featured their films. According to ZG Portal, the first domestic production company Croatia in 1917 produced the first Croatian feature film "Brčko u Zagrebu" by author Arnošt Grund, which unfortunately has been lost.

The first Croatian multiplex, CineStar Zagreb (today CineStar Branimir Mingle Mall), opened in December 2003, and today Zagreb offers a rich selection of cinema halls, from boutique cinemas to modern multiplexes with IMAX and 4DX technology.

• CineStar Arena IMAX (Vice Vukova Street 6), 10 screens, total 1,664 seats, including an IMAX hall with 485 seats and a 4DX hall with 116 seats. Multiplex in Arena Centar in Novi Zagreb.
• CineStar Zagreb, Branimir Mingle Mall (Branimirova Street 29), 13 screens, capacity 2,873 seats, with five hours of free parking in the center's garage. Also includes a ScreenX hall.
• CineStar Novi Zagreb (Avenue Mall) (Dubrovnik Avenue 16), 9 screens, 1,934 seats.
• Kaptol Boutique Cinema (Nova Ves Street 17), 6 screens, 630 seats. Part of Kaptol Center with three hours of free parking.
• Cineplexx City Center one East (Slavonska Avenue 11D), 89 seats, with 2,400 parking spaces in the shopping center.
• Kino Tuškanac (Preradovićeva Street 5), classic cinema hall in the center.
• Art kino KIC (Preradovićeva Street 5), cinema in the Cultural Information Center, founded in 1965.
• Dokukino (Preradovićeva Street 5), specialized in documentary films.
• Kino Metropolis (MSU) (Dubrovnik Avenue 17), opened on September 2, 2010 in the Museum of Contemporary Art.

Kino Europa (Varšavska Street 3), the oldest cinema hall in Zagreb with a capacity of 505 seats, has not been operating since 2019.

Visual Innovation for the New Spider-Man

"Spider-Man: New Age" brings a story of growing up and responsibility, and director Destin Daniel Cretton presents it in his most ambitious edition yet. Alongside Tom Holland in the title role, the cast includes Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando and Mark Ruffalo. The film was shot with a special camera for ScreenX, with additional frames planned during production, creating an immersive experience into Spider-Man's world at 270 degrees.

Večernji list reports that audience reactions after the premiere confirmed that "Spider-Man: New Age" is much more than a franchise sequel, it is a blend of top-notch production and innovative technology into a unique cinema experience.
