Croatia is currently at the peak of a heatwave, with the State Hydrometeorological Institute (DHMZ) issuing a red weather alert for Dalmatia, the Zagreb region, and the entire south of the country. Air temperatures are rising up to 40 degrees Celsius, and similarly very hot weather is expected to persist in the coming days, as reported by Slobodna Dalmacija and Jutarnji list.
According to DHMZ data, the east of Croatia is experiencing clear and hot weather on the first day of August. The minimum temperature will range from 16 to 19 degrees, while the maximum daily temperature will reach between 36 and 38 degrees. In the central regions, it is also sunny and equally hot, with maximum temperatures around 37 degrees.
In the west of Croatia, sunny weather prevails, but moderate cloudiness may temporarily develop in the middle of the day. There is a slight chance of a local shower in the interior of Istria and Gorski Kotar. Morning temperatures in the interior of western Croatia range from 14 to 17 degrees, and on the coast from 22 to 28 degrees. Maximum daily temperatures reach between 33 and 38 degrees.
In Dalmatia, which is under a red weather alert, the weather is sunny and very hot. The morning temperature is around 18 degrees in the interior and up to 26 degrees on the coast. The maximum daily temperature ranges from 33 to 38 degrees, while in the interior it can occasionally reach 40 degrees. The rest of the country is under an orange alert, according to Jutarnji list.
According to the DHMZ forecast, as reported by OG Portal Ogulin, Saturday will also be mostly sunny and very hot. In the afternoon, there is a very slight chance of a shower in Gorski Kotar and the interior of Istria. The wind will be light, with moderate southeast winds in the east, and a morning breeze on the Adriatic, while in the afternoon there will be a moderate southwest wind in places. Maximum daily temperatures on the Adriatic will range from 34 to 40°C.
Jutarnji list provides a more detailed forecast for Sunday, when sunny and very hot weather will persist in most areas. In the interior of Dalmatia, there is a slight chance of an afternoon shower. The wind will be light, with moderate northeast winds in places, and southeast winds in the east. On the northern Adriatic, a weak to moderate bora with strong gusts is expected in the first part of the day. The minimum morning temperature will be between 14 and 20 degrees, and on the Adriatic from 24 to 29°C, while the maximum daily temperature will mostly be between 33 and 39°C. DHMZ has also issued a red weather alert for Sunday for the Zagreb region and the south of Croatia.
