Jelena Perčin has had a summer full of emotional and professional highlights. After news of her wedding to musician Ante Gelo reached the public, the actress spoke for the first time about the intimate ceremony, as well as the firm life rule that helps her maintain family peace.
Although many speculated about their relationship, the couple decided to keep the most important moment away from the public eye. The ceremony took place before their joint trip to Dallas, where they supported the Croatian national team, and Gelo also had a musical engagement. News of the marriage only leaked after their romantic trip to Sardinia.
"We decided to keep it to ourselves and our closest family. We're happy we managed to pull it off. It was something just for us," Perčin told Net.hr. She added that she doesn't expect drastic changes in their relationship now that they're married. "We're both grown, mature people who have been through a lot in life. I believe it can only get more beautiful and better from here."
Aside from the wedding, Perčin also revealed her long-standing rule that has proven key to a quality family life. "A few years ago, I decided that summer is our family time, and I no longer accept work commitments during that period. Summer is reserved for the kids and family," the actress said, noting that these are now just "sweet worries."
The rest of the summer, the family traditionally spends on Lopud. Although her husband Ante is working during August, they try to coordinate their schedules. "Ante will be with us, but he'll be flying in and out-August is his working month. He'll also take his kids to Mljet for a bit. We'll probably join them; we're coordinating," Perčin explained, adding that everyone is on the "southern route."
While many complain about high summer temperatures, Perčin emphasizes that her family enjoys them. "We're sea people. The kids love the sea, the sun, and the heat. We don't complain about high temperatures-quite the opposite, we can't wait for summer," she said, revealing that her youngest son, Jakša, has already mastered swimming.
She also recalled summer nights from her childhood on Lopud. "I remember summers when, in the middle of the night, everyone from the town would wade into the shallows because it was too hot to sleep. Today people say it's never been like this, but I think they have selective memory," the actress said, concluding with a smile: "People love to complain and exaggerate."
