In the town of Knin, renowned for its royal history, events dedicated to outdoor sports, recreation, and family fun will take place on September 26 and 27, 2026. Organized by the Šibenik-Knin County Tourist Board and the Knin Tourist Board, the fifth edition of the Dalmatia Šibenik Outdoor Festival will be held-an event that year after year attracts more and more nature and recreation enthusiasts, as reported by Šibenski Kanal.
The festival will take place in the Marunuša sports and recreation zone, located just below the western walls of the Knin Fortress. Most of the competitions and activities start right from this town, and participants can choose from three trail races on courses of 5, 11, and 22 kilometers. The routes wind through old town streets, along historic walls, across bridges and forest paths, revealing viewpoints with spectacular vistas of Knin and its surroundings.
Runners will pass by the Krka and Butižnica rivers, near Loredan's Gate, and over Spas Hill, exploring hidden natural beauties that remain unknown to most visitors. Sunday is reserved for water disciplines-on the schedule are a SUP race and a kayak race, whose route passes some of the town's most beautiful sights and finishes right below the Knin Fortress.
From its very beginnings, the Dalmatia Šibenik Outdoor Festival has been conceived as an event for the whole family. Special attention is given to children, for whom age-appropriate running races are organized, so they too can enjoy the competitive spirit and time spent in nature. In addition to sports events, during both festival days, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy a diverse side program.
The schedule includes yoga workshops, a hiking trip to Dinara, a guided tour of the Knin Fortress, climbing workshops, chess and karate demonstrations, a universal children's sports school, a horseback riding workshop, and the "Sport for All" program, which further promotes inclusivity and accessibility of sports for everyone. The program will be rounded out with socializing and discussions about sports and recreation, music, and a great atmosphere.
