Croatia is preparing to mark Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day and the Day of Croatian Defenders on August 5, 2026. Central events will take place in Knin, where the fan group Torcida is organizing a march expecting record attendance, and in Saborsko, which this year hosts the ceremonial program for the area of the former Ogulin municipality.
According to Narod.hr, Torcida has issued a call via social media for citizens to join the march. Their goal, as they emphasize, is to pay dignified tribute to the Military-Police Operation Storm, which they describe as the greatest victory in the Homeland War.
The gathering for the march is scheduled for 6:00 PM in the parking lot in front of the 'Andrija Matijaš Pauk' barracks in Knin. Torcida has invited all veterans, their family members, fan groups, and all citizens to participate.
"We believe that this year we will gather in the largest number so far and jointly send a strong message! We invite all Croatian veterans, their family members, fan groups, and all Croatians to join us on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in Knin, to jointly mark the 31st anniversary of the Military-Police Operation Storm. They remind that the march was initiated several years ago on the initiative of veterans from their ranks and has been attracting more people each year.
Saborsko Hosts Ceremonial Observance
On the same day, the Municipality of Saborsko will host the central observance for the entire area of the former Ogulin municipality. As reported by OG Portal Ogulin, the program begins at 1:00 PM with the gathering of participants and attendees of the Saborsko summer school.
At 1:30 PM, wreath-laying and candle-lighting are scheduled at the monument to the Wounded Dove. The central part of the program will take place at 2:00 PM with a Holy Mass in the church of St.
