Diomande joined Leipzig's pre-season preparations on Monday, August 3, 2026, where he also underwent medical checks. The following day, Tuesday, he did not train with the rest of the squad but instead worked individually. According to Marca, Leipzig did not want to risk an injury that could jeopardize a lucrative transfer. On Wednesday, August 5, the player finally completed his first full training session with the group after overcoming the infection that had caused him to miss the friendly against Verl in Austria.
Amid media speculation about an already agreed deal, RB Leipzig's sporting director Marcel Schäfer spoke out. He told Marca: "It's clear that some self-proclaimed transfer experts reported a few days ago that a deal was done or gave the 'green light.' That's simply not the case. We're not at that stage yet."
