The new version of 'Dan koji se pamti' has arrived on streaming services, featured on the album 'Negdje u ravnici' with 12 covers of Slavonian classics.
After announcing her return to Slavonian tradition, singer Mia Dimšić has unveiled a new cover of the song 'Dan koji se pamti'. It is a tribute to Krunoslav Kića Slabinac, a man whose musical legacy remains deeply etched into the identity of this region. The track was released on August 3, 2026, and is part of the album 'Negdje u ravnici', which features twelve songs from the Slavonian treasury, reimagined in a modern key.
The original version of 'Dan koji se pamti' dates back to 1978, when it appeared on Slabinac's album 'Pusti noćas svoje kose'. That same year, the song was premiered at the Opatija Festival (Opatija '78). Nearly half a century later, Mia decided to give it a new dimension, but without compromising the emotion and universal message it carries.
In the studio, she was joined by Maja Batorek, a friend with whom she shares years of musical experience. The two once performed together as an acoustic duo and played in a tamburica orchestra, which, as Mia says, left a mark on their artistic and personal growth.
"'Dan koji se pamti' is our tribute to Kića Slabinac, my fellow townsman who, through his work, presence, and personality, left an indelible mark on this region and the town where we both grew up and where I took my first musical steps. That's why the song features my friend Maja Batorek, with whom I had an acoustic duo before my solo career and played in a tamburica orchestra, traveling to distant corners of the world and growing up in many ways. Although our professional paths later diverged completely, what never changes is our friendship and shared love for music, and all of that has resulted in countless days to remember forever," Mia Dimšić told Totalinfo.hr.
The album 'Negdje u ravnici' is conceived as a journey through the musical history of Slavonia, which has shaped Mia's identity, both personal and professional. Twelve covers of classic Slavonian songs blend heritage with modern sound, building a bridge between old and new generations.
The single 'Dan koji se pamti' thus becomes a heartfelt thank you to the rich Slavonian musical legacy and one of its greatest icons, Krunoslav Kića Slabinac.
