According to information from Karlovac County, on Thursday, July 31, 2026, at 3:45 PM, a traffic accident occurred in the village of Prkos Lasinjski, located in the Lasinja municipality. In this accident, a 28-year-old motorcyclist sustained serious injuries. According to the Karlovac Police Department, the young man was riding a motorcycle with Zagreb license plates and, due to excessive speed, while exiting a curve, his wheels caught sand on the roadside, causing him to lose control and fall.
The 28-year-old will face misdemeanor charges in accordance with the Road Traffic Safety Act, and a report on the incident will be submitted to the competent state attorney's office.
On the same day, shortly after midnight, at 12:05 AM, police officers in Slunj removed a 21-year-old driver from traffic who was operating a passenger car with Karlovac license plates. A breathalyzer test measured his blood alcohol concentration at 2.22 promille, as reported by Trend Karlovac. The driver was placed in police holding cells until the effects of the intoxicating substance wore off, and he will also face misdemeanor charges in accordance with the Road Traffic Safety Act.
A day earlier, on Thursday, July 30, 2026, around 11 AM, another traffic accident occurred on Vidikovac Street in Brezovac. Police report that a 72-year-old moped driver, just before a curve, due to speed not adjusted to road conditions, began braking, lost control, skidded, and veered into a roadside ditch. The injured 72-year-old was transported to the hospital in Bjelovar, and the moped sustained material damage, as reported by Bjelovar Info.
In addition to traffic interventions, Karlovac County also reports positive news regarding safety. A citizen from the Josipdol area voluntarily surrendered a significant amount of weapons and ammunition: three rifles, one machine gun, 12 hand grenades, 20 detonator caps, three pieces of artillery ammunition, three magazines for an automatic rifle, and as many as 3,177 rounds of various ammunition. At the same time, another citizen found a mortar shell in a forest in the Rakovica municipality, which was taken by a police officer from the Regional Anti-Explosives Unit Zagreb.
The police remind that citizens who report weapons and mine-explosive devices for surrender will not face misdemeanor or criminal proceedings.
"Once again, we thank all those who recognized the importance of the campaign 'Fewer Weapons, Fewer Tragedies' and removed weapons and mine-explosive devices from their surroundings, thereby contributing to safety, and we continue to invite and remind all other citizens - surrender weapons without sanctions!" the police said for Karlovac County.
