Swiss hotel brand Mövenpick, known for warm hospitality and gastronomic excellence, today officially opened its first resort on the Croatian Adriatic coast. This is the Mövenpick Hotel & Residences Kvarner Bay, located in Novi Vinodolski in the Kvarner Bay. As reported by Riportal, this year-round property is part of the Accor group and brings a new dimension of luxury tourism to the northern Adriatic. The resort has about 200 hotel rooms and suites, and the complex also includes 304 residential apartments.

A gathering place, not just a summer vacation

General Manager Igor Nekić emphasizes that the resort is not conceived only as a summer destination. "From the very beginning, we wanted Mövenpick Kvarner Bay to be much more than a place for a summer vacation. We wanted to create a gathering place for families, friends, colleagues, and the local community, where people can connect over exceptional food, warm hospitality, and unforgettable experiences in every season," he told Riportal. The resort stretches along the coast, with a lounge terrace overlooking the sea, and is a two-hour drive from Zagreb and half an hour from Rijeka.

Gastronomy, family, and wellness in focus

Within the resort, guests have access to the à la carte restaurant Affamata with Italian classics, the hotel restaurant Figo, and a series of bars and pools, including the Alba Signature adult pool and the Sea Breeze family zone. For the youngest, the Little Birds Club has been designed, a children's club that also opens its doors to local families for birthdays and other events. By the end of 2026, the Salterra Wellness & Spa will open, one of the largest hotel spa centers in the region, with ten different saunas, outdoor and indoor seawater pools, and a panoramic fitness studio.

Investment of €250 million and 200 jobs

The project is led by the Slovenian company ECM Partners, and the total value of the completed resort is expected to exceed €250 million. The opening has created around 200 new jobs, many of which are permanent and year-round. Project manager Nader Bawany emphasized the importance of the investment for the region: "The Kvarner Bay is one of the most beautiful, yet somewhat overlooked parts of the Adriatic, and we have long believed it deserves a project of this level. Bringing the first Mövenpick hotel to the Croatian coast represents a thoughtful, long-term investment and a demonstration of our confidence in this region and the future of Croatian tourism," he stated for Riportal.

Residential apartments already on sale

The resort consists not only of the hotel part: 304 Mövenpick residential apartments are also available. The first sales phase includes units closest to the sea, with a starting price of €345,000. Owners are assured carefree management by the resort's professional team according to Accor standards, and apartment rental is possible through a rental management program, generating income while owners are not present. Potential buyers can personally experience the resort and stay before purchasing.

Sustainability and global recognition

The Mövenpick brand, founded in 1948 in Switzerland by Ueli Prager, today has over 140 hotels in more than 40 countries. According to Riportal, since 2017 it has held the Green Globe certification as the most sustainable hotel brand in the world, and through the "Kilo of Kindness" initiative, it encourages guests and employees to donate clothing, food, and supplies. The resort is open for reservations with promotional opening prices, and members of Accor's ALL loyalty program receive additional benefits.
