The 'Trag u beskraju' event, dedicated to the late musician Oliver Dragojević, drew around 25,000 visitors to Vela Luka. However, after an emotional evening and a massive gathering on the waterfront, the celebration left behind considerable mess, both on land and in the sea.
Municipal Mayor Katarina Gugić publicly addressed the swift cleanup operation that followed, emphasizing that too little was said about the people responsible for making the town shine again by the next morning. According to her, municipal workers and firefighters were stationed until 3 AM, and by 7 AM on July 30, Vela Luka was completely cleaned and washed, as reported by Morski.
"Thanks to the dedicated work of municipal workers and firefighters, who were at the checkpoints until 3 AM and ensured the safe running of the event, Vela Luka was fully cleaned and washed by 7 AM on July 30. Thank you to our municipal workers and firefighters for their effort, dedication, and everything they did to make our town shine again," said Mayor Gugić.
The effort didn't stop on land and the sea surface. In a special ecological action, members and friends of the diving club KPA Vodomar from Duga Resa cleaned the seabed of Vela Luka's bay. They pulled significant amounts of waste from the sea that had ended up there after the concert night.
Although official figures on the exact amount of waste collected from land and sea have not been released, the result of the swift and organized response by local services was evident-Vela Luka greeted the new morning spotlessly clean.
