Germans in Camper Caught with 181 Grams of Marijuana

Police officers from the Krapina-Zagorje Police Department arrested two German nationals on Saturday evening at the Gornji Macelj border crossing. A significant quantity of various drugs was found in the camper they were traveling in towards the Adriatic coast, and instead of heading to the sea, the 40-year-old and his 45-year-old compatriot ended up in custody.

Late-Night Stop

According to the police report, the patrol stopped the camper on August 1, 2026, at around 10:50 PM. Behind the wheel was a 40-year-old German citizen, while his friend, five years his senior, was in the passenger seat. Although they presented themselves as tourists, their behavior raised suspicions among the officers that they were transporting illicit substances.

Due to reasonable suspicion, both were immediately arrested, and the police obtained a warrant from the Zagreb County Court for a thorough search of the camper. What they found confirmed their suspicions.

What Was Found in the Camper

During the search, police officers discovered several packages containing different types of drugs. The list of seized substances included as much as 181.8 grams of marijuana, 99.01 grams of hashish, and 94.17 grams of amphetamines. Additionally, they found four bottles of cannabis oil, papers soaked with the same oil, and 4.86 grams of psilocybin mushrooms.

The total quantity and variety of the substances found indicate that this was not a small amount for personal use, but rather a more serious attempt at smuggling.

Handed Over to the Custody Supervisor

After the criminal investigation was completed, the two suspects were handed over to the custody supervisor of the Krapina-Zagorje Police Department. A criminal report was filed against them on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of unauthorized production and trafficking of drugs. The competent prosecutor's office will decide on their further fate.
