The Croatian Automobile Club (HAK) warned drivers on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, about a bear on the A1 motorway. The animal was spotted on the stretch between the Krpani and Sveti Rok tunnels, in the direction of Dubrovnik.
HAK urges all road users to adjust their speed and driving style to the road conditions. Drivers are advised to be extra cautious, not to approach the animal, and if they notice danger, to act in accordance with traffic signs and instructions from the relevant authorities.
On the same day, HAK also reported a traffic accident on the A7 motorway in the Trsat tunnel, heading toward Križišće. After the accident, traffic is moving in only one lane, with a maximum speed limit of 40 kilometers per hour.
As a result, a long queue has formed between the Škurinje interchange and the Trsat tunnel. According to HAK's estimates, the queue in the direction of Križišće is about four kilometers long.
Meanwhile, traffic is heavier on main roads, routes to tourist destinations, and at some border crossings, so all drivers are asked to be patient and drive carefully.
