Humanitarian Campaign 'Strength of Steps for Jakov' Raises €4,692.19 for a Specialized Car Seat for a Five-Year-Old with a Rare Genetic Disorder.
On Saturday, August 8, 2026, residents of Osijek will have the opportunity to combine recreation with charity. The campaign, titled "Strength of Steps for Jakov," will take place at six city locations, aiming to raise funds for a specialized medical car seat for a five-year-old fellow citizen.
The program runs from 9 AM to 9 PM, with training sessions led by kinesiologists from the Kaizen Center. Each session lasts about half an hour, and citizens can register through the campaign's official website. Organizer Petar Milović notes that some locations are already fully booked.
"Training sessions will last about half an hour, and citizens can join via the website. Some locations are already full, and I'm pleased that, in the end, I hope the campaign's purpose will be fulfilled," Milović told SiB.hr.
Little Jakov suffers from a rare genetic disorder called FOXG1, a form of Rett syndrome, along with a range of severe accompanying diagnoses. As a result, he cannot sit, walk, or speak independently and relies entirely on his parents' help. The specialized medical car seat will enable him to travel more safely and comfortably to therapies, medical check-ups, and all other daily activities.
To purchase it, exactly €4,692.19 needs to be raised. "People are already donating money, and I'll be extremely glad if we reach the goal. Therefore, I invite all fellow citizens to attend the training sessions," Milović urged.
This is not the first time Petar Milović has engaged in such a manner. Back in May 2026, he ran for a girl named Mila from Osijek, but the concept of tomorrow's campaign is completely different. The organizer emphasizes that the idea was to demonstrate the power of community.
"With this campaign, we wanted to show that Osijek is a city of sports and that many people can achieve great things. I hope we'll raise the much-needed €4,692.19 for the seat that will greatly help the little Osijek resident," Milović concluded for SiB.hr.
