Five Municipalities Near Zagreb Fund Workbooks and Extended Stay Programs

A month before the start of the new school year, five cities and municipalities near Zagreb have announced the continuation of financial support for students and their parents. The measures include funding for workbooks, textbooks, and extended stay programs, which will significantly ease the financial burden of education for families in the 2026/2027 school year.

Dugo Selo: €50 per Student and Extended Stay

The City of Dugo Selo will fully cover the costs of workbooks and other educational materials for all primary school students residing in its area. The support amount is €50 per student. Additionally, the city continues to co-finance the extended stay program at Ivan Benković Primary School and Josip Zorić Primary School in Dugo Selo. The program also applies to students from Dugo Selo who attend the "Stjepan Radić" Primary School in Božjakovina.

Velika Gorica and Dubrava Cover Work Materials

In addition to the free textbooks for primary school students provided by the state, the City of Velika Gorica will also finance work materials. This includes workbooks, art portfolios, and other accompanying materials. The Municipality of Dubrava has announced a similar measure, fully covering the cost of workbooks for its primary school students in the new school year.

Rugvica Subsidizes Textbooks for High School Students and Awards Prizes

The Municipality of Rugvica will subsidize the purchase of textbooks for students of Dugo Selo High School who reside in Rugvica. Parents, guardians, or adult students will purchase the textbooks themselves according to the school's official lists, and after submitting an application, which will be available during September, they will be eligible for a refund. Rugvica will also award cash prizes to the best students and university students for the 2025/2026 academic year. Prizes are designated for the best vocational school student, the best grammar school student, the best undergraduate student, and the best graduate student. The condition is that candidates are Croatian citizens and have resided in Rugvica for at least one year before the announcement of the competition. The prize amounts will be determined by the Rugvica Municipal Council.

Jakovlje Continues Extended Stay Program

The Municipality of Jakovlje has announced the continuation of funding for the extended stay program at the local primary school. The costs will cover salaries and other material rights of the staff implementing the program.
