Antun Gustav Matoš Elementary School in Vinkovci has issued an appeal for help for the seven-member Ilanić family, whose 17-year-old son is recovering after demanding spinal surgeries.
The Ilanić family from Privlaka finds itself in an extremely difficult situation after their 17-year-old son, Marko, underwent two complicated spinal surgeries. To ensure the young man's safe return home and continued recovery, funds are urgently needed to adapt their living space.
According to information published by the portal Narodno.hr on August 2, 2026, Marko had his first surgery on March 25, 2026. That procedure lasted a grueling 13 hours. The very next day, March 26, a second surgery followed, lasting five hours.
Recovery from such demanding procedures takes months. Marko is currently undergoing rehabilitation in Krapinske Toplice, where his father, Martin, is by his side.
The appeal for help was issued by Antun Gustav Matoš Elementary School in Vinkovci. It states that the Ilanić family faces a major challenge. For Marko's safe stay at home, he urgently needs his own adapted room and bathroom, but the costs of the work and necessary equipment far exceed the family's means.

In addition to regular living expenses, treatment, rehabilitation, and stays away from home, adapting the house has become an almost insurmountable financial burden.
