Overtaking in a Prohibited Zone Near Dinjiška: 23-Year-Old Seriously Injured

On Monday, August 3, 2026, at 6:35 PM, a serious traffic accident occurred on state road DC-106 on Pag, in which one person sustained serious injuries. The accident took place in the area of Dinjiška, and according to initial information from the Zadar Police Department, the cause was improper overtaking.
The collision occurred when a 25-year-old driver of a passenger car with Zagreb license plates, traveling in the direction of Pag, began overtaking on a section of road where this maneuver is prohibited. At that moment, he struck the passenger car with Varaždin license plates in front of him, driven by a 72-year-old driver who was turning left.
In the violent impact, three people were injured. All were transported to Zadar General Hospital for further medical treatment. Doctors confirmed that the 23-year-old passenger from the Zagreb-registered car sustained serious injuries. The 72-year-old driver and a female passenger from the Varaždin-registered vehicle escaped with minor injuries.
Police officers conducted an on-scene investigation. The Zadar Police Department confirmed that a criminal investigation will follow to determine all the exact circumstances that led to this traffic accident on the state road toward Pag.
