  • HAK urges drivers to respect temporary signals and adapt their driving to road conditions.

Drivers on Croatian highways can expect slower traffic and the need for increased caution on several key sections on Thursday, August 6, 2026. The Croatian Automobile Club (HAK) reported maintenance works and road surface damage that have led to temporary traffic regulations.

Where the Works and Damage Are

On the A4 highway, between the Varaždin and Varaždinske Toplice interchanges, roadworks are underway in the direction of Zagreb. Traffic on this section is moving in two lanes, with a speed limit of 80 kilometers per hour.

Works are also currently being carried out on the A6 highway, specifically on the section from the 18th kilometer, located between the Vrbovsko and Ravna Gora interchanges. Here, too, traffic in both directions is being directed into two lanes with the same speed limit of 80 kilometers per hour. According to HAK, these works are expected to be completed by 6 PM.

On the A7 highway, at the 33rd kilometer in the direction of Rupa, between the Sveti Kuzam and Draga tunnels, road surface damage has been identified. As a result, traffic is moving in two lanes, with the speed also limited to 80 kilometers per hour.

Appeal to Drivers

HAK has issued a clear call to all road users. "Drivers on all the mentioned sections are urged to exercise increased caution and respect temporary traffic signals," their statement reads.

In addition to the aforementioned restrictions, traffic is occasionally heavier on main roads, city streets, and bypasses, as well as on routes to tourist destinations, ferry ports, and border crossings. Delays are possible precisely on the sections where works are being carried out, so it is advised to adjust speed and driving style to the current road conditions.
