Capcom's upcoming horror remake Resident Evil Veronica has been added to over two million player wishlists in just two months since its official announcement. The developers boasted about these impressive numbers on social media, confirming the massive anticipation for the return of this once somewhat overlooked title in the series.
This is a remake of Resident Evil, Code: Veronica, which originally appeared on Sega's Dreamcast and earned an exceptionally high average score of 94 percent on Metacritic. Although it achieved very good sales results on that platform, players on the PlayStation 2 did not embrace it as warmly, resulting in lower revenue compared to previous installments in the series.
The story follows Claire Redfield and her brother Chris, and takes place three months after the events of Resident Evil 2. The game is also historically significant as the first Resident Evil title not to debut on a PlayStation console.
Although the exact release date has not yet been announced, it is known that the game is expected to launch sometime next year. The development is led by producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, with Kazunori Kadoi and Yasuhiro Anpo heading the project-the same people responsible for the success of the acclaimed remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4.
Given that Capcom has done an excellent job with remakes so far, it's no surprise that the hype for this game is already immense. As the release approaches, the number of players who have added it to their wishlists is expected to double soon.
