Tennis players Serena and Venus Williams will once again team up in doubles competition. Organizers of the upcoming WTA 1000 tournament in Cincinnati have awarded them a wildcard for the doubles draw, announced on August 4, 2026.
For the legendary American sisters, this will be their first match together since the 2022 US Open, where they were defeated by the Czech duo of Lucie Hradecka and Linda Noskova.
Their last attempt to return to the court as a pair was at Wimbledon, but they had to withdraw from the draw due to a knee injury sustained by Serena. Now, they will have the opportunity to compete again at the tournament running from August 13-23, just before the season's final Grand Slam event.
Organizers have also announced that Venus Williams has received a wildcard for the singles competition. She currently sits at No. 667 in the WTA rankings and has had a tough year, losing all ten matches she has played and currently on a 13-match losing streak.
The Williams sisters' doubles career together is one of the most successful in tennis history. Between 1999 and 2016, they won a total of 14 Grand Slam titles in doubles. Their impressive trophy haul also includes three Olympic gold medals, won at the Sydney 2000, Beijing 2008, and London 2012 Games.
