The town that endured immense sacrifice during the Homeland War once again marks one of the most significant dates in recent Croatian history with dignity. On Wednesday, August 5, 2026, Škabrnja will celebrate Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day and the Day of Croatian Defenders with a special cultural and entertainment program.
This national holiday commemorates the military-police operation Storm, a pivotal turning point that liberated most of the occupied territory and reestablished the constitutional and legal order of the Republic of Croatia. For Škabrnja, a symbol of Croatian suffering and unwavering determination in the defense of freedom, this day holds special emotional significance and each year attracts numerous visitors from Zadar County and all of Croatia.
Organizers have prepared a rich program that will appeal to all generations. The celebration begins at 7:00 PM with a Folklore Review, showcasing the richness of Croatian traditional heritage. The musical highlight of the evening follows at 9:00 PM, when popular performers Zdravko Škender and Miroslav Škoro take the stage, and their concert is highly anticipated.
To close the program, at 11:30 PM, a spectacular fireworks display is scheduled, which will illuminate the sky above Škabrnja and symbolically conclude the Victory Day celebration.
In addition to the rich entertainment program, organizers have also taken care of catering. Free food will be provided for all who come to pay tribute and join the celebration, with the main attraction being roasted ox on a spit, which will be distributed to visitors.
