A reader reported a driver with Slovenian plates who repeatedly overtook a line of vehicles using the emergency lane on the A1 highway on Friday. He faces a fine of 260 euros.
A driver of a car with Slovenian license plates was filmed on Friday using the emergency lane to overtake a line of vehicles on the A1 highway. The incident occurred on the stretch between Vukova Gorica and Bosiljevo in the direction of the coast, and the footage was provided to Index.hr by a reader who also reported the case to the police.
According to the reader, the same driver repeated this dangerous maneuver at least three times. She provided the police with the video and the car's license plate number, and the report was officially filed. "He's still driving around," the reader told Index.hr, expressing disbelief that the driver hasn't been penalized yet.
The police confirmed to Index.hr that upon receiving the report, they did not find the vehicle in traffic. However, they emphasize that they will conduct a criminal investigation to determine the driver's identity and the exact license plate number. Namely, upon reviewing the submitted video, it was not possible to definitively ascertain the full license plate.
"After the criminal investigation is completed, the driver will be sanctioned for the offense described in Article 142, Paragraph 3 of the Road Traffic Safety Act, for which a fine of 260.00 euros is prescribed," the police stated.
