Šibenik's fish market was once again packed this Friday, August 7, 2026, with customers eager for fresh fish and seafood delicacies. Numerous locals browsed the stalls from early morning, comparing offerings and selecting ingredients for the traditional Friday fish meal.
The stalls had a bit of everything, with the most affordable option being sardines at 5 euros per kilogram. White fish lovers could choose sea bass at 14 to 15 euros per kilogram, while sea bream, depending on the stall, ranged from 15 up to 30 euros per kilogram.
Fresh squid cost 23 euros per kilogram. Those preferring shrimp had several options: half a kilogram of cleaned shrimp meat sold for 15 euros, while a kilogram of unpeeled shrimp could be found for 23 or 25 euros.
Among the most expensive items in this morning's offerings were scallops, priced at 40 euros per kilogram. Despite higher prices for certain varieties, the crowds at the market confirmed that seafood lovers are not giving up on fresh ingredients, especially on a day when fish is a staple on many tables.
