The appeal filed by a 40-year-old former journalist and actress was rejected by the Zagreb County Court, thereby upholding the earlier decision to extend precautionary measures. As reported by Hype TV, citing Jutarnji list, she remains barred from approaching, stalking, or harassing her mother. The court assessed that there is a risk of reoffending.
This ruling pertains solely to protective measures. A decision on the appeal against the non-final prison sentence has not yet been made.
In mid-May 2026, the Municipal Criminal Court in Zagreb handed down a non-final sentence of one and a half years in prison for domestic violence. Under that verdict, she would serve six months behind bars, with the remaining year suspended. If she commits no new criminal offense within the next five years, that portion of the sentence will not be enforced. Additionally, she was ordered to undergo psychiatric treatment under supervision.
During the proceedings, two completely different narratives emerged. According to the indictment, the former journalist and actress insulted, threatened, and physically attacked her mother over an extended period-pulling her hair, hitting, shoving, and throwing objects at her. In one instance, she allegedly threatened to "rip her head off" while demanding money for alcohol. The most serious incident occurred when she entered her mother's bedroom, threatened to kill her, then attacked her with a stick, grabbed her by the neck, began choking her, and bit her forearm.
The defendant denied most of the charges but admitted to the physical altercation. She claimed she had no intention of harming her mother. "I only wanted to stop her from calling the police again that night. I am horrified by what I did, I am deeply sorry, and I would never do it again," she stated. She added that her mother suffers from mental health issues and dementia, and she herself said she has PTSD and has been treated at the Vrapče psychiatric hospital.
On the other hand, the mother made a chilling statement. "I fear she might kill me," she said, describing violence that she claims has gone on for years. She stated that her daughter consumed large amounts of alcohol and threatened her when she did not receive money. In the last incident, she managed to escape to the bathroom and call the police, after which she was taken to the hospital. Despite her fear, the mother emphasized that she does not want her daughter to go to prison but believes she needs treatment.
This is not the first time the former journalist and actress has been under investigation for domestic violence. Her first arrest occurred in early February 2024, and a second followed in June 2025. She spent a total of four days in detention and already has a prior conviction for a similar offense.
