Istrian police have detained a 45-year-old Italian citizen accused of illegally filming naked children with his phone at a tourist facility in Istria. The incident occurred on August 4, 2026, and a security guard played a key role in preventing further unlawful behavior.
According to police reports, the security guard caught the Italian man secretly filming naked children at around 5:30 PM on August 4. He immediately reacted and held the suspect until police officers arrived. During the criminal investigation, incriminating material was found on the man's phone.
"Namely, on August 4 at around 5:30 PM, a security guard at a tourist facility in Istria caught an Italian citizen secretly filming naked children with his phone and held him until the police arrived. Police officers conducted a criminal investigation and found incriminating material on the man," Istrian police reported.
After the investigation was completed, the 45-year-old was taken into custody on August 5, 2026, along with a criminal complaint. He is suspected of the criminal offense of exploitation of children for pornography.
In light of this case, the police have issued an appeal to parents to pay increased attention to their children, especially on beaches and in tourist facilities.
"The police appeal to parents to protect their children and to keep track of where they are and what they are doing on the beach. Dress your children in swimwear, and if you notice a suspicious person filming children, immediately report it to the police at 192," police said.
This incident once again highlights the importance of caution during the tourist season when the number of visitors on the Croatian coast increases.
