On the day Croatia marks Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day and the 31st anniversary of Operation Storm, the president of Belgrade's Red Star, Zvezdan Terzić (60), has once again made a scandalous statement. This time, his target was the symbol of Croatian victory, Knin.
Terzić, a former professional footballer, took to social media with a message that immediately sparked outrage in Croatia. Alongside a photo, he wrote verses calling for the Serbian flag to be raised in the very city that became a symbol of the liberation of occupied Croatian territory in 1995.

The post was shared by Tportal and comes at a time when Croatia is paying tribute to fallen defenders and celebrating a key victory in the Homeland War. Operation Storm in 1995 liberated a large part of the then-occupied state territory.
This is not the first time the 60-year-old sports official has drawn public attention with his remarks. Last year, he caused a stir by claiming that the Serbian football league is of higher quality than the Croatian one. He is also remembered for his controversial views on women in football, whom he claimed "do not understand football," as well as for his condemned comments about homosexual footballers.
The latest provocation, timed to coincide with August 5, 2026, represents yet another low blow from Belgrade. While Croatian flags fly in Knin and across Croatia, Terzić's message about the "Serbian tricolor" that should fly in Knin is just one in a series of his public statements that draw condemnation.
