Hajduk's fan group, KNH Torcida Split, issued a statement on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, officially declaring a complete boycott of ticket purchases for all stands at the away match against NK Varaždin. The first-round SuperSport HNL match is scheduled for Sunday, August 2, 2026, at 6:30 PM at the Anđelko Herjavec Stadium, as reported by Jutarnji list.

The reasons for the boycott, according to Torcida, are multiple. First and foremost, they object to the ticket price of 18 euros for the away sector. "Gentlemen armchair critics, salon parasites, and police-managerial scum at the top of NK Varaždin, on what basis do you set such high ticket prices?" they asked in a statement carried by Jutarnji list.

Criticism of conditions in the South Stand

Torcida also took aim at the state of the sanitary facilities in the away South Stand. "The sanitary facilities in your South Stand are a disgrace and a hygiene disaster that wouldn't meet the standards for keeping livestock, let alone humans," reads the statement cited by Večernji list. In addition, the fans complained about security measures, claiming they were "surrounded by wire and cages under the guise of non-existent riots" and that people and small children were being harassed at the entrances.

Torcida was particularly harsh about the identity of the Varaždin club, reminding of the history of the former NK Varteks. "You are a pathetic club created on the grave of the real Varteks, which was shut down in shady political games, and all of Croatia knows it," the statement says, as reported by Index.hr Sport. As explained by Sportklub, the former NK Varteks was founded in 1931, but due to accumulated debts, it was expelled from the top tier and ended up in bankruptcy in 2015. Today's NK Varaždin was founded in 2012 as a new legal entity and gradually took over the role of the city's leading club.

Gathering in front of the stadium

Despite the ticket boycott, Torcida called on all Hajduk fans to come to Varaždin and gather in front of the stadium, from where they will support their team. "We will gather in front of the stadium and cheer, where from the road we will be louder than the home theatre audience anyway! Everyone to Varaždin!!!" the statement concludes.

Both teams have European commitments ahead of the league match. According to Index.hr Sport, Hajduk will visit Cypriot side Pafos on Thursday, July 30, 2026, in the second qualifying round of the Europa League second leg, while Varaždin will play against Czech side Jablonec on the same day in the second qualifying round of the Conference League second leg.
