In just a few weeks, Filip Udovčić secured a silver medal at the European Junior Informatics Olympiad in Kaunas and a fifth national WRO title, earning him a spot at the world finals in Puerto Rico.
Few students can boast both a European medal in programming and a place in the world robotics finals in a single season. Thirteen-year-old Filip Udovčić, a student at Josipovac Elementary School and a member of the regional STEM center C.H.A.O.S. Josipovac, has achieved exactly that.
At the European Junior Informatics Olympiad EJOI 2026, held in Kaunas, Lithuania, Filip won a silver medal and placed 17th among 100 young programmers from 25 countries. He competed in the category for students up to 16 years old, despite being only 13. Over two days, without assistance, he solved six challenging algorithmic problems using C++.
This was his debut for the Croatian junior informatics national team, which he earned after three consecutive national championship titles in algorithms.
Just a few weeks earlier, Filip, alongside Jakov Ćorić, triumphed in the RoboMission Junior category at the Croatian WRO final. This marked his fifth national WRO victory, securing his place at the World Robot Olympiad 2026 finals in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Filip is no stranger to the global WRO stage. Back in 2023, together with Linda Stojković, he won a silver medal at the world finals in Panama. The C.H.A.O.S. Josipovac association continued to claim world medals in Izmir, Turkey in 2024, and Singapore in 2025.
C.H.A.O.S. Josipovac operates as a regional STEM center, bringing together more than 50 students from Slavonia and Baranja. All workshops are free of charge, held six times a week, and led by volunteer mentors.
The European silver medal in informatics and a new world-class robotics final demonstrate Filip's breadth of knowledge, perseverance, and exceptional potential. At just 13, he ranks among the top 17 young programmers in Europe, and next year he is expected to compete for the highest honors on the international stage.
